Privacy Policy
Introduction
The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to explain how and why I process (collect, use, share, store, protect and dispose of) personal data that is gathered from my therapy clients, from individuals who make contact with me but don’t become a client, and visitors to my website.
I use the terms ‘data’, ‘information’ and ‘records’ interchangeably; they all refer to any information offered or gathered through various channels of communication.
The Data Protection Act (2018) and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) require me to be transparent about how I process personal data (where records exist). I also treat any disclosed information in full accordance with the BACP Ethical Code of Practice and Information Commissioners Office (ICO) guidelines, and other legislation where relevant.
Complaints
If you are not happy with any aspect of your therapy or regarding how I have handled your personal data, I would in the first instance attempt to resolve this with you.
Get in touch by fully completing this complaints form and it will be emailed to me.
In receiving a complaint, I agree to:
- acknowledge your complaint, under normal circumstances, within 30 days of receiving it;
- look into it without undue delay;
- keep you updated with any progress; and,
- let you know the outcome and your options if you are still unhappy.
If you have a complaint and would prefer not to contact me first, you can refer to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) website at www.ico.org.uk for further information.
Should you have any concerns with any aspect of your therapy (as a current or past client) and would prefer not to contact me first, you can refer to the BACP website for details regarding making a complaint at www.bacp.co.uk.
For clients based outside of the UK, I would attempt to resolve any issue with you in the first instance.
In the event of current or past clients from outside the UK making a complaint or claim against me, my practice is governed by English Law with the Exclusive Jurisdiction of the Courts of England & Wales, and subject to the BACP Ethical Framework. As such, and under the terms of my insurance policy, any claim must first be brought in United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.
Privacy Policy Updates
This Privacy Policy is reviewed regularly and updated accordingly. The latest, current version is: ATPP V.1 1126.
