Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity

Clients come to talking therapy from a wide range of backgrounds, bringing with them diverse life experiences and perspectives, individual identities and a sense (or absence) of belonging in the world. Some suffer harassment and discrimination simply for being themselves, and when different aspects of identity intersect, such as race, gender, sexuality, queerness, age, disability and neurodiversity, this can create exceptional challenges for some.

I am both personally and professionally committed to practicing and promoting the core values of diversity, equality and inclusion, principles which underpin the BACP and the Equality Act (2010). I do this by unconditionally and genuinely recognising, respecting and accepting clients for who they, however they identify, and by providing a therapy space free of criticism and judgement. This can offer clients some much-needed respite from a world that can feel hostile and overwhelming, to experience a sense of fairness even when faced with inequality and exclusion in the wider world.
